Training by PERCEPTION, not by ROTE

Kari Crawford's love of horses drove her to find the best, kindest way to interact with these creatures in a manner that is of the greatest benefit to both human and animal. She is well known for her work with problem horses, including wild mustangs and severely traumatized saddle horses.  Her gentle, effective techniques have given many horses a second chance at a promising life with a human partner.

Kari's formal training includes:

  • Master of Science Degree in Animal Behavior from Colorado State University.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Equine Science from Colorado State University.

  • Twenty years industry experience as a professional horse trainer.

  • Certified instructor for English and Western, beginning through advanced.

  • Experience training and researching natural behaviors of non-domestic horses and experience training stallions. My training methods emphasize building mutual communication based on the horses' natural behaviors, to produce a safe, responsible partner.

  • Solid dressage foundation. Classical dressage experience.

  • Experience training and showing western and English nationally, starting colts, training racehorses and re-training former racehorses, training draft and light harness horses, endurance racing, demonstrational and bridleless work and more.

  • Experiencing teaching individuals and groups of all ages; specializing in helping horse owners learn to better communicate with their horses.

  • Gentle training techniques
